PARAISO TRAVEL

Paraiso Travel

Colombian people used to make movies about violence, drugs, etc. but sometimes they are wrong because Colombia has better things to show and if we want to make movies we can change the topic.

This movie is inspired in the real life and story is based on jorge franco´s novel and acting by Angelica Blandon and Aldemar Correa, but there were more people like Margarita Rosa de Francisco and Jesus Ochoa. Also Jorge Franco wrote Rosario tijeras, Maldito amor, and Mala noche.

The film in general is about Reina and Marlon, two Colombian teenagers living in Medellin Colombia, who want to travel to New York City. Althought they have a relationship, they decided to live the American dream.During the trip they had to cross illegally thought Mexico and live really bad experiences with more illegal people. they arrived to New York City without money.

Colombian people and the world could think that film show us the true of the american dream, here the caracters describe the process since the people decided to leaved their country for travel to USA illegally.

Also I like so much Fonseca´s song it is so beautiful and this song id telling us a little bit of they, was good.

finally, i recomended this film because it is a different kind of Colombian film, So show drugs or something like this, is better if you read the novel before, because you will understand the film. So we're in the obligation to help Colombian talent and the country in general, maybe people can go to the cinema or buy the original film.

Geography

Ireland is situated in the Atlantic Ocean and separated from Great Britain by the Irish Sea. Half the size of Arkansas, it occupies the entire island except for the six counties that make up Northern Ireland. Ireland resembles a basin—a central plain rimmed with mountains, except in the Dublin region. The mountains are low, with the highest peak, Carrantuohill in County Kerry, rising to 3,415 ft (1,041 m). The principal river is the Shannon, which begins in the north-central area, flows south and southwest for about 240 mi (386 km), and empties into the Atlantic.

History

In the Stone and Bronze Ages, Ireland was inhabited by Picts in the north and a people called the Erainn in the south, the same stock, apparently, as in all the isles before the Anglo-Saxon invasion of Britain. About the 4th century B.C., tall, red-haired Celts arrived from Gaul or Galicia. They subdued and assimilated the inhabitants and established a Gaelic civilization. By the beginning of the Christian Era, Ireland was divided into five kingdoms—Ulster, Connacht, Leinster, Meath, and Munster. Saint Patrick introduced Christianity in 432, and the country developed into a center of Gaelic and Latin learning. Irish monasteries, the equivalent of universities, attracted intellectuals as well as the pious and sent out missionaries to many parts of Europe and, some believe, to North America.

Norse depredations along the coasts, starting in 795, ended in 1014 with Norse defeat at the Battle of Clontarf by forces under Brian Boru. In the 12th century, the pope gave all of Ireland to the English Crown as a papal fief. In 1171, Henry II of England was acknowledged “Lord of Ireland,” but local sectional rule continued for centuries, and English control over the whole island was not reasonably absolute until the 17th century. In the Battle of the Boyne (1690), the Catholic King James II and his French supporters were defeated by the Protestant King William III (of Orange). An era of Protestant political and economic supremacy began.

By the Act of Union (1801), Great Britain and Ireland became the “United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.” A steady decline in the Irish economy followed in the next decades. The population had reached 8.25 million when the great potato famine of 1846–1848 took many lives and drove more than 2 million people to immigrate to North America.
In the meantime, anti-British agitation continued along with demands for Irish home rule. The advent of World War I delayed the institution of home rule and resulted in the Easter Rebellion in Dublin (April 24–29, 1916), in which Irish nationalists unsuccessfully attempted to throw off British rule. Guerrilla warfare against British forces followed proclamation of a republic by the rebels in 1919. The Irish Free State was established as a dominion on Dec. 6, 1922, with six northern counties remaining as part of the United Kingdom. A civil war ensued between those supporting the Anglo-Irish Treaty that established the Irish Free State and those repudiating it because it led to the partitioning of the island. The Irish Republican Army (IRA), led by Eamon de Valera, fought against the partition but lost. De Valera joined the government in 1927 and became prime minister in 1932. In 1937 a new constitution changed the nation's name to Éire. Ireland remained neutral in World War II.

In 1948, De Valera was defeated by John A. Costello, who demanded final independence from Britain. The Republic of Ireland was proclaimed on April 18, 1949, and withdrew from the Commonwealth. From the 1960s onward two antagonistic currents dominated Irish politics. One sought to bind the wounds of the rebellion and civil war. The other was the effort of the outlawed Irish Republican Army and more moderate groups to bring Northern Ireland into the republic. The “troubles”—the violence and terrorist acts between Republicans and Unionists in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland—would plague the island for the remainder of the century and beyond.

THE GREEN MILE

The film was presented on the cinemas in 1999. This film was directed by Frank Darabont and adapted by him from the 1996 Stephen King novel The Green Mile. In the 2000 Academy Awards, the movie was nominated for four Oscars (Best Supporting Actor, Best Picture, Best Sound, and Best Writing: Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published). 13 another wins and 23 nominations on different events. The runtime of the movie is too long, (tree hours) but it takes the full attention of the viewer. This history develops in the US, at the depression. When the class differences were notable like the discrimination of the black people.

The story then flashes back to the 1930's at the State Prison., where Thom Hanks as Paul Edgecomb, the supervisor of the green mile, is suffering from a urinary infection. Some of the other guards Brutus "Brutal" Howell (David Morse), Dean Stanton (Barry Pepper) and Harry Terwilliger (Jeffery DuMunn) bring in a new inmate. His name is John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan) "like the drink, only not spelled the same." He appears to be a gigantic muscular man, but when Paul talks to John they find that he has the mindset of a small child very meek and apparently scared of the dark. Coffey, is a convicted man, but not proven and also has a special gift. One day in the green mile appeared a little mouse. The mouse is able to fetch a spool of thread as a trick. The other guards allow Del (one convicted) to keep Mr. Jingles as a pet. John do three important miracles, cured Paul of a urinary infection, cured a Melinda of brain tumor and Mr. Jingles returned the life.

Personally, I think the green mile is a great film because it give a reflection for life, if we do the things good, or we do bad things, and be a bad person, I also think that God can said who lives and who die because of that I disagree for whit death penalty and even more with the electric chair.

Commentators pointed out some comparisons between Coffey and Jesus Christ, namely that are both their initials "JC", which both possess healing powers and who died, while a small group of followers to believe in its powers.

I recommend this film for all people who like movies with a reflection and who like to have a nice time view excellent actors, good sound and pictures and I think this is not a movie for child audience because is thought.

COLOMBIA VS CANADA

I chose one aspect of the culture to show you the different and the aspect that has in common. This aspect was the sport, because this topic is very important for both countries. In Canada is more known for playing hockey, but in Colombia we all play football soccer. I can’t said who are better because for the Canadians also is better the hockey but for Colombians are better football soccer. Although we can’t see the good and the bad points of the both sports.
In the first place in both countries those sports have many fans and have a team who represent the respective country and also have more teams inside the country.
I think the hockey is more violent than the football soccer. But the Colombian’s fans of football soccer are more violent than the fans of hockey in Canada.
Hockey and Football soccer generate a lot of money for those countries and for the private clubs and to all companies involved in those sports.
In conclusion both give to the country good things but need change some point like the violence.
